5 Things to Remember When Wedding Dress Shopping

Let’s face it; there is a lot going on when it comes to wedding dress shopping. There are a lot of emotions and expectations and eek maybe some *fears* too. This is an exhilarating time and we want you to enjoy the ride of your bridal era, not get overwhelmed or bogged down in the weeds of it all. So us, your cool older sisters who let you try on our clothes, are here to help. Here are the 5 Things to Remember when Wedding Dress Shopping:

Bridal Sizing is, um, Odd

We literally could not think of a better way to describe it. Each designer designs dresses using their own unique size chart. Each silhouette, fabric, and dress design makes for unique sizing. You could be an 8 in one dress, a 12 in another, or even a 16. What we are trying to say is that a sewn in number is just it; a number. We’re going to walk you through it - because that is our jobs - but let’s collectively stop giving such weighted worth to numbers and let’s let numbers be that, numbers. Sigh, breathe out babes, we’ve got you.

Curate Your Entourage

We know we know, bringing a huge entourage of all your loved ones to your appointment sounds like the thing to do. While it can sometimes work in your favour, we recommend sticking to selecting just a few trusted individuals whose opinions or presence will actually help make decisions! This approach ensures the focus remains on your vision and your comfort aka YOU!

‘Attached to the possibility, Open to the outcome’ mentalitY

We’re not here to get philosophical on you - wedding dress shopping is actually not that serious, it’s fun - but we are going to tell you to be open minded. We LOVE when you come in with ideas of what you want, but if you find yourself drifting or your Stylist recommending things outside of your original perfectly curated Pinterest board, let’s navigate it together. Having too specific of an idea can sometimes limit your options or completely derail you when your Pinterest board looks aren’t giving you the warm and fuzzies IRL.

Timing is Everything

Shop early. This is not a sales tactic. Ideally you want to shop 12 months before your wedding and say yes 10 months before your wedding. Can we accommodate tighter timelines? Yes, but it likely comes at a price and at a risk that the dress you love just isn’t available in such a tight timeline.

Trust your instinct

So we’ve all heard of a mother’s instinct but bride’s instinct is also something not to be ignored. If the dress feels like you, like it makes you feel like your most beautiful and most confident self - odds are it’s the one. Trust you know what you love and how a garment makes you feel and then stop. Stop thinking you need to have your ugly cry ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ moment - that isn’t for everyone! Stop second guessing yourself that something better is out there… there will always be more beautiful dresses, but trust you know which one is right for you. Oh also I saw a TikTok and the bride said you know it's the dress when you start comparing others to it. Soooo there is that.

Yay! Now that we’ve gone through those, let’s find you that dress! Book your appointment and let’s escape into the world of bridal fashion!
