trends we saw at new york bridal fashion week
We’re back and we are inspired to say the least. We are overwhelmed with decisions in the best way possible and when we tell you the best is yet to come - oh my gosh we are SO excited for you 2026 & 2027 brides! While we try to make final selections, here is a peak at what trends we saw all over the runway this New York Bridal Fashion Week.
Bubble Hems
Proof that fashion lives in 7 year cycles; It’s 2025 and for our fellow Millennial brides, the bubble hem is back! We saw a glimpse of it last market, but in the spirit of maximalist couture, the beloved bubble hem is back - Lizzie McGuire rejoice! For those of you who are new to the notion of a bubble hem, a bubble hem is a voluminous, rounded hemline created by tucking or gathering the fabric under, giving the skirt or dress a soft, puffed silhouette. While some designers are choosing to use the bubble hem in a more traditional way, at the bottom of the skirt, we have also seen the bubble hem pop up in peplums creating a voluminous silhouette at the hip! But honestly, where ever they put a bubble hem, I’ll be there for it!
2. Draping
The structural yet artistic, architectural if you will, silhouette created by strategic draping has never been more dominant. Bold structure cascaded in intentional draping gives brides the best of both worlds: fit and fashion. Draping provides a soft, romantic elegance while ensuring you feel supported in the garment.
3. MAXIMALIST COUTURE
The era of minimalist and simplicity is well taking a step aside because it’s extravagant twin sister Maximalist is stealing the spotlight as we speak. So what does maximalist mean in the world of bridal fashion: heavy lace, bold fabrics, sleeves, frills, texture and adornments - A LOT OF ADORNMENTS. Dresses have multiple parts to provide a full look in one from dickies to cummerbunds to matching veils, enough is never enough in this era!
Oh and p.s. not to sound like an economics professor you want to drown out, but it’s often though that maximalist fashion, with its bold colours, patterns, and textures, can be a way for people to express themselves and find joy during times of political and worldly hardship or uncertainty. It kinda adds up right?
4. SEPaRATES
Yet another example of fashion’s cycles: separates are back and if we are being honest they are better than they have ever been. We’re not going to lie, about 7 years ago when separates were on their way out they scared us; they seemed to be giving more giving tank top and a skirt that true couture. Well, well, well…. dare we say the separates we saw this season are some of the most elevated, couture pieces that will be making TMB Dress Loft home. From true corsets to matching lace skirts, cummerbunds and dickies (yes, you read that right), separates are here to make a statement this season.
That’s it for now New York City, we’re off to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. Who’s ready to see what Europe has in store? Travel safe, see you there.
