10 things to do after you're ENGAGED!

YOU’RE ENGAGED! CONGRATULATIONS!

We know how overwhelming this can be and we understand if you can’t think clearly!

We have put together a list of things to help you feel grounded and kick off your fiance era!

1. Soak it all in
Trust us, we know how exciting and overwhelming this time is! You are going to want to take it all in with your partner and celebrate just the two of you before you shout it from the rooftops. Pop a bottle of champagne and enjoy a glass of bubbly!

2. Announce your Engagement

Call your friends and family or show up at their door to share the news! We highly recommend videoing their reactions (these are memories you never want to forget!) Make a checklist of all of the special people in your life that you want to share the news with. You don’t want to post to social media and forget about a special someone!

3.CELEBRATE
Think champagne, loved ones, and a whole lot of congratulations…That’s right, we're talking about your engagement party! What better way to start off your wedding planning season with the ones you love the most! SOAK IT ALL IN!

4. Live in the moment
Enjoy this time, don’t feel pressured to make any wedding decisions days after your engagement. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

5. Discuss what’s important

Have a date night as an engaged couple (seriously this is special!) and discuss what is important to you and your fiance. The venue, guests, length of engagement etc!

6. Pick a date

After you have discussed the major decisions it is time to start planning, and this all begins with a date! Key things to think about.. season, month, year etc.

7. Make a Budget

Setting a budget may not sound like a lot of fun, but it is an important step to cross off your list early in the wedding planning process. We know how overwhelming it can feel. To start you off, here are some important things to discuss with your fiance.

  1. What can we afford right now?

  2. How much time do we have to save?

  3. Will we be getting any help from family?

Once you develop a budget this will make it easier when choosing vendors. Keep in mind, there will likely be unexpected wedding expenses that will take you by surprise, plan for these early!

8. Create a guest list

It is time to sit down and create your guest list. You will want this list done prior to meeting with wedding venues as this will determine what you will be able to afford and what type of venue will work with your guest count. Break it down and make a spreadsheet - you’ll thank us later!

9. Gather Inspiration

Head over to that Pinterest board we know you’ve been adding to for years! If you don’t have a Pinterest board, we highly recommend it. This is a great way to share your vision with your vendors.

To start you off, here are a few things to think about..

  • what type of wedding do you want to have?

  • colour palette

  • florals

10. Start the search for your vendors

Make a list of vendors you know you want to meet with and book appointments accordingly. We realize this can be stressful, but remember to enjoy the process, time flies and you only get to do this once!
